Brighton Sound Social discusses mental health in the music industry

After nearly a year of bringing members of the music industry together each month to chat about topics of interest, the team behind Brighton Sound Social; Brighton’s music networking events, have now gear changed with content to set the tone for the whole of 2019 with a topic which hotly debated across the press and in the industry as a whole.

Mental health in music is fast becoming one of the most widely discussed topics. Coming up in February, (the first event for 2019), speakers will include professionals in industry supporting artists with a range of challenges including mental health.  Leading health professionals in the field of mental health and support, and real life cases of mental health challenges from artists who have agreed to speak as part of this unique panel, helping to raise awareness and give support to other artists who may be too unsure how to approach their own challenges.

This follows an extensive survey which was specifically conducted by one of the panelists and the team from Brighton Sound Social, in a bid to find out more information regarding how people feel and perceive mental health issues in the creative industries. Results will be revealed and discussed at the event in a bid to widen the awareness of what is still a very confusing area of our everyday health.

As well as the panel of speakers there will be the regular opportunity to come and network with other music professionals in a relaxed environment from 7pm before the talk starts around 8pm.  The talks will be moving from Deadwax, a fresh approach for 2019, with more opportunities to network in a more private space.

The BSS team have much more engaging topics for their second year including partnerships with some of the more well known venues and events in the city.  If you work in the music industry it’s vital you add yourself in the Facebook Group to stay locked to all the info on events and member benefits including the brand new Level Card which launches this Spring.

These events are totally free for everyone to continue to make it as inclusive as possible. You can sign up as a member of Brighton Sound Social for free by visiting the website – https://brightonsoundsocial.com. Your Level Card will then be ready for you to collect at the next event you attend.
